Million Property Tax Payments Due On 31 Jan 2007
IRAS has issued the
annual property tax bill to more than 1.1 million property
owners. IRAS would like to remind property owners to pay the
tax by 31 Jan 2007. IRAS encourage property owners to pay
their property tax through GIRO. They will be given up to 12
monthly interest-free instalments, subject to a minimum
monthly deduction of $10. For example, an owner with a bill of
$100 can pay in 10 monthly instalments. Those who choose to
pay by cash/cheque will have to pay the full amount by 31 Jan
2007. Taxpayers who have difficulty with their payment or wish
to clarify their payment matters can contact us on 1800-356
8600 or send an email to propertytax@iras.gov.sg. GIRO
application forms are available from IRAS website.
Alternatively, taxpayers are encouraged to pay electronically
via the Internet or self-service kiosks. Read

Withdrawal
of 1998 Off-Budget Concession on Stamp Duty Deferment
A
concession to defer Stamp Duty payment on all contracts was
introduced in June 1998 as part of the off budget measures to
cushion the impact of economic slowdown. The Government has
decided to withdraw the concession with immediate effect (from
15 December 2006) as the economic conditions and the property
market have improved. The concession allows property buyers to
pay the Stamp Duty at a later date. For newly constructed
properties, the due date is the date of Temporary Occupation
Permit (TOP). For completed properties, the payment is due
when the property sale is completed. With the withdrawal of
the concession on 15 December 2006, the normal treatment would
apply, that is, property buyer is required to pay Stamp Duty
within 14 days from the date of acceptance of the Option to
Purchase...
